Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio comes to life with trailer for stop-motion animated adaptation

It’s like the summer of 1998 all over again, if world-destroying astronomical objects were wooden toy boys who longed to be real… in September, Robert Zemeckis and Tom Hanks team up to bring the live-action Pinocchio to Disney+, before Netflix and Oscar-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro deliver their own take on Carlo Collodi’s classic tale in December with Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio.

We’ve already seen a teaser and some images for the stop-motion animated adaptation, and now Netflix has unveiled a brand new trailer for del Toro’s latest, which features a star-studded voice cast that includes Gregory Mann, Ewan McGregor, David Bradley, Tilda Swinton, Christoph Waltz, Finn Wolfhard, Cate Blanchett, John Turturro, Ron Perlman, Tim Blake Nelson, and Burn Gorman. Check it out below along with the new poster…

Academy Award-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro reinvents Carlo Collodi’s classic tale of the wooden marionette who is magically brought to life in order to mend the heart of a grieving woodcarver named Geppetto. This whimsical, stop-motion film directed by Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson follows the mischievous and disobedient adventures of Pinocchio in his pursuit of a place in the world.

Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio is coming to select theaters in November and Netflix in December.
